This camera was bought entirely b/c my old camera would take too long after you pressed the button until it actually took the picture - this one is nearly instant on the children/pets setting. I spent a little extra to get the HD video feature b/c I think all things will be HD soon and I'll be glad I made the investment. This is our only camera we use know to take pics and video of my infant son. It is awesome.
